Grupo Austral
est.1930-1950, France, Argentina

BIOGRAPHY

Grupo Austral was an array of architectural associates from the late 1930s to around 1950. The group initially formed in Paris, however due to the impending conflict of WWII in Europe; their relocation took them to Buenos Aires. Their style was tempered by a modernism sensibility, paving the way for a distinctly Latin American modernist aestheticism. The era of their work was steeped in contention, with global conflict leading to mistrusts of technology and information sharing; thus Grupo Austral was short-lived, yet their designs remain distinguishing and impactful to this day
