BIOGRAPHY
Italian-born American artist, sculptor and furniture designer; Harry Bertoia initially began his career with jewellery design. He famously remarked that he turned to furniture when his “designs became bigger and bigger”, needing to pursue structure and dimensions that were aligned to his growing conceptualization of form. A pioneer of the multi-disciplinary signature so well known among artists today, Bertoia is noted to have pioneered the relationship between mid-century modernism and its ally in aesthetics; modernism in art.
