Joe Colombo
b.1930-1971, Italy

BIOGRAPHY

Joe Colombo was an esteemed industrial designer from Milan, having studied at the Academia di Belle Arti in Brera in the early 1950s. His earlier work was informed by the societal anxiety following the nuclear bomb, which spurred him to join the avant-garde art movement, Movimento Nucleare, founded by Sergio Dangelo and Enrico Baj in 1951. Colombo went on to carve an influential career in both design and architecture; until his untimely and early death from heart failure at the age of 41. His iconic contribution to the post-modern movement lives on as a template for subsequent designers around the world.
