BIOGRAPHY
Cape Town based Lizel Strydom can be seen as a multidisciplinary artist, not limited to the making of objects, but in the spirit of ‘gesamkunstwerk’, that moves full circle through bud to full bloom. As ‘gesamkunstwerk’ integrates many or all art forms to create an artwork so Lizel’s creative journey utilises multiple aspects of her life to generate her artistic production.
As she weaves intricate and complex tapestries that are imagined into labyrinth compositions, her practice weaves itself into other pathways of her experience, where her home becomes installation and her expression of fashion becomes performative.
